A Penn State offensive lineman has been pegged as one of 10 players from across the nation to have a breakout year as a redshirt freshman.

Michael Menet, a 6-foot-5, 273-pound offensive guard from Pennsylvania was listed in Rivals.com’s article highlighting redshirt freshmen ready for success in 2017. He was the only player from the B1G to make the list.

Here was the reasoning behind Menet’s selection:

While the Nittany Lions bring back some depth on the offensive line, look for Menet to be in the mix for some serious playing time. Menet has the potential to play tackle, guard or center, so look for him to push several of the veterans throughout the summer and 2017 season.

Menet was a member of Penn State’s 2016 recruiting class and was one of the top prospects for the Nittany Lions that year. He was a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports and was listed as the top guard in the country and was ranked as the No. 29 player overall.

Throwing the redshirt freshman into the mix will definitely give Penn State plenty of depth on the offensive line.
