Taulia Tagovailoa climbs Maryland’s all-time record books during Week 5 game vs. Michigan State

Taulia Tagovailoa etched his name into Maryland football record books on Saturday against Michigan State.

During the game with Michigan State, Tagovailoa passed Boomer Esiason’s 6,259 all-time yards for the Terrapins. Tagovailoa is now the third-leading passer in Maryland history, behind program legends Chris Turner and Scott Milanovich.
Esiason, who had a 14-year NFL career and 1 NFL MVP, was no slouch at Maryland. This adds to the list of impressive moments in the younger Tagovailoa’s career.
At the time of this writing, Tagovailoa is encroaching in on Turner’s 6,543 all-time yards. Tagovailoa is in the midst of another impressive performance against Michigan State, going over 300 yards through the air with 1 TD and 18 rushing yards.
With games against Purdue and Indiana up next, Tagovailoa will have ample opportunity to move himself further up the Maryland all-time ranks. Tagovailoa already has the single-season passing yards record for the Terps, a feat he achieved last season.
