The first game of the 2017 season hasn’t been played yet but Todd McShay is already looking ahead to the 2018 NFL Draft. And if he’s accurate, there’s a lot for Ohio State fans to be happy about.

McShay, an NFL Draft analyst for ESPN, recently completed his defensive rankings and four Buckeyes made the list: Chris Worley, Sam Hubbard, Tyquan Lewis and Jalyn Holmes.

McShay was highest on Worley and Hubbard in his analysis. Here’s what he had to say about Worley, a senior LB for the Buckeyes:

A run-and-hit linebacker, Worley is a hard worker and a tough player. He’s likely a 4-3 weakside linebacker in the NFL but needs to continue to improve his take-on skills and strength.

And on Hubbard, a talented defensive end:

A former safety and linebacker who switched to end before the 2015 season, Hubbard has a quick first step with the speed to threaten the edge, Coach Urban Meyer has praised Hubbard’s work ethic, and Hubbard is extremely versatile. If he comes out, he could be a first-round pick.

That has to be music to the ears of Ohio State fans. If McShay is saying that before seeing these guys in action this season, there is huge potential for this Buckeyes team to be really good.

We’ll see if any other defenders from Ohio State work their way onto this list during the season.
