Mark Whipple trying to instill confidence in Nebraska after win over Indiana in Week 5

Mark Whipple, Nebraska’s offensive coordinator, is trying to instill a sense of confidence after a rough start and a coach firing to star the season.
The Cornhuskers take on Rutgers on Friday and are looking to turn the page on their season. Whipple believes his team can shake off the rough start and try to manage a bowl game.
“I don’t know if they really think we can win every game,” Whipple said via the Omaha World-Herald. “I’m no genius, but we can win seven — we can win these games. That’s the expectation — not just to go to a bowl game, we can win the West.
Whipple knows what the expectations are for the team this season. He believes that the group has taken his words to heart, and results are showing in practice recently.
“If we don’t get there, I’m not gonna be here anyways,” said Whipple. “I told them that. We win the West? Alright, I’ll ride Mickey’s coattails. But it comes down to those guys playing and I think they’ve taken that to heart and we’ve practiced well these two days.”
Nebraska fired head coach Scott Frost after he started the season 1-3. The Cornhuskers have gone 1-1 since the firing, losing to Oklahoma and defeating Indiana last week
