The quarterback battle between Demry Croft and Conor Rhoda is going to seep into the first week of the season.
On Thursday, Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck told the media that both Croft and Rhoda would play the team’s season opener against Buffalo on Aug. 31.
That’s one question answered. But who will be the starter for the Gophers’ Week 1 game? Both guys, according to Fleck:

“Both quarterbacks don’t have game experience, true game experience,” Fleck told the media. “If I was to tell you I know exactly how those quarterbacks can play in a game, I’d have to guess. That’s a hypothesis. Both quarterbacks have continued to get better. Every time I think I see one nudging someone else out, the other one closes the gap.”
It’s still early, but it sure sounds like Fleck plans to utilize both quarterbacks throughout the duration of the season.
