Penn State’s B1G title translated to a lot more money for head coach James Franklin.
On Friday, Sports Illustrated’s Bruce Feldman reported that a new contract for Franklin had been approved at a Board of Trustees meeting. the deal is reportedly worth an average of $5.8 million per year over the next six years.
His buyout is $2 million this year.

Franklin led Penn State to its first outright B1G title since 1994 as the Lions finished the regular season 10-2. They completed the year at 11-3 after beating Wisconsin in the conference championship game and losing to USC in the Rose Bowl.
The 2017 season will mark the fourth year of the Franklin era.
