Illinois weathered the storm – aided by a review-overturned scoop-and-score touchdown by Iowa – and had the Hawkeyes backed up for the final play of the game. Needing to go about 70 yards on the final play, Iowa dialed up a last-ditch attempt with a number of laterals.

Like most plays of that nature, the pass was relatively short as the laterals began moving back toward the end zone. However, the Hawkeyes nearly had their lateral line established at one point.

In the end, Illinois was able to snuff out the wild attempt, though the play carried on much longer than any Illini fan would have cared for. The end result was still the same, it goes down as a win, the first for Illinois since 2008 over the Hawkeyes.
