ESPN’s FPI is predicting the rest of the 2022 season, and Ohio State’s production so far is of particular note. In the updated numbers from ESPN’s Football Power Index, the Buckeyes are rated No. 2 in the country, right behind Alabama.

With a 6-0 start to the season, the Buckeyes will head to a bye in Week 7 with an eye on getting healthy. Ohio State has been seriously banged up this season, including running back Miyan Williams sitting out the game against Michigan State in Week 6.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba has also had a tough season and has been sidelined for much of the year after an early hamstring injury. We’ll see if he can use the bye week to get healthy and back on the field for the second half of the season.

Moving forward, the FPI remains high on the Buckeyes and is giving Ryan Day’s squad a 44% chance of finishing the regular season undefeated. Ohio State also remains a heavy favorite to win the B1G East and the B1G Championship.

Coming out of the bye, Ohio State will face Iowa at home before three road trips in four games to finish October and begin November. Road trips at Penn State and at Maryland are particularly notable before the season-ending matchup with Michigan.

Here is the rest of Ohio State’s schedule and how the FPI is projecting the Buckeyes in each matchup:

  • Oct. 22 vs. Iowa – 95.3% chance of winning
  • Oct. 29 at Penn State – 80.1%
  • Nov. 5 at Northwestern – 98.6%
  • Nov. 12 vs. Indiana – 98.5%
  • Nov. 19 at Maryland – 85.2%
  • Nov. 26 vs Michigan – 77.4%
