Northwestern is suffering bad losses on the field as they face the results off the field with the decommitment of 4-star recruit Ashton Porter. On Sunday, On3 Recruits reported that Porter de-committed from Northwestern despite the Wildcats being on a bye week in Week 7.

Porter is a 4-star recruit from Cypress, Texas, in the 2023 recruiting class. He is rated 303rd in the nation and the 43rd best defensive lineman, according to 247Sports Composite. He has 32 offers to play college football including Michigan State, Indiana, Nebraska and Purdue.

Northwestern started the season with a 31-28 B1G win over Nebraska in Week 0 in Ireland but has since lost 5 consecutive losses. The worst 2 losses of the season, thus far, are the 31-24 home loss to Southern Illinois in Week 3 and the 17-14 home to Miami (Ohio).
