Jim Knowles watched Tennessee upset Alabama in Week 7 like many people around the country. If it comes down to facing the Volunteers eventually, Knowles will have his defense ready for that type of offense per Eleven Warriors’ Griffin Strom.

Ohio State and Tennessee have only played once in football. The Buckeyes and Volunteers last met in the 1996 Florida Citrus Bowl. Phillip Fulmer and John Cooper were the coaches of those teams at that point.

Knowles’ daughter actually attended Tennessee so he is very familiar with Knoxville. He compared the Tennessee offense to what a lot of teams ran in the Big 12 back when he was with Oklahoma State.

“I saw them, and my daughter went to Tennessee, so I sent a lot of money to Tennessee.” Knowles says “That is a lot of what I went against in the Big 12.”

With Tennessee and Ohio State’s remaining schedules, a matchup could happen in the College Football Playoff.

We’ll see if the Volunteers and Buckeyes can have their second all-time meeting at some point this season.
