For a Nebraska defender, earning you Blackshirt is a really special accomplishment.
Monday, 16 Huskers earned their Blackshirt for the 2017 season, indicating they are members of the first-team defense. And a camera was in the locker room to catch the reaction when those players found the jerseys hanging in their lockers.

Earning a Blackshirt is a tradition that can be traced back to 1964 and has been a staple of Nebraska football. Commentators, analysts and others often refer to the Huskers D as “the Blackshirt defense.”
