The Wisconsin Badgers lost a lot of defensive talent this offseason.

Outside linebacker T.J. Watt (11 1/2 sacks, 15 1/2 tackles for loss), linebacker Vince Biegel (four sacks, six tackles for loss), safety Leo Musso (five interceptions, 74 tackles) and cornerback Sojourn Shelton (four interceptions, 12 passes broken up) are all gone. But the defenders that return this season for the Badgers believe they can be a top-10 defense.

“Yeah, 100%,” said linebacker T.J. Edwards to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Those guys that left, they were great leaders for us. But we have guys who are completely capable of repeating what they did.”

“It is going to be exciting to have guys step up and see how they react to having a spotlight on them.”

Wisconsin opens its season on Sept. 1 against the Utah State Aggies at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.
