C.J. Beathard always had a reputation as a mobile quarterback. But it was the type of mobility that could avoid sacks and pick up a few yards with his legs. He wasn’t exactly a dual-threat guy by definition, though.
But Beathard showed some serious speed and a few moves in San Francisco’s preseason game against San Diego on Thursday night. The former Hawkeye put an entire defense on skates, sprinting 62 yards for a touchdown.
You don’t see this too often:
This man just put the entire Chargers D on skates…

Even the biggest Iowa fan didn’t think Beathard had that type of ability.
Beathard ended the night as the leading rusher for the 49ers, totaling 80 yards and a touchdown on three carries. He also completed 5-of-9 passes for 31 yards as San Francisco knocked off the Chargers 23-13.
The former Hawkeye is showing off some serious skill in the preseason. Maybe he’ll be the starter in San Francisco before too long.
