C.J. Stroud recently took time to praise the Penn State secondary. Stroud knows that it’s going to a tough challenge per Nathan Baird of Cleveland.com

Stroud was especially complimentary of PSU CB Joey Porter Jr., calling him “the best DB in college football, other than the guys I have on my team.” The Nittany Lion secondary is currently 3rd in the nation in completion percentage allowed and 5th in opposing QB efficiency rating.

Stroud knows he will have a tough challenge on his hands in Week 9.

They have good length to them, when it comes to being in press man. On film it has been tough for a lot of people to get open with that. They do a good job with being physical off the line and not just letting you just run.

The Buckeye offense struggled to find a rhythm in the 1st half of Week 8, with no run game to speak of and Stroud uncharacteristically making a few bad throws.

Stroud would later go on to explain what his team needs to do to succeed against the tough PSU defense, saying:

So we’ve got to do our part on making sure that we just run clean and push routes and try to read body language. But I gotta be on time with throws as well, because they do take advantage of the quarterback not being on time.

Stroud and his 2nd-ranked scoring offense are seeking to improve to 8-0 on the season.
