New gear gets fans and players hyped no matter what.
Purdue players are no exception.
During Monday’s practice, coach Jeff Brohm had the Boilermakers circle around him. He gave a speech and asked the captains to come to the center. Brohm then gave the captains a bag and asked them to open it. What they grabbed out of the bag was new chrome helmets.

Purdue will wear the new helmets this Friday, Sept. 8, against the Ohio Bobcats.
