Ohio State might be down at halftime, but can it recover? History might not be on its side.

According to ESPN’s Stats and Infomation, Ohio State is 102-1 in regular season games when leading by 10+ at any point since 2012. The only loss on the docket? A 24-21 loss to Penn State in Happy Valley back in 2016.

The Buckeyes took a 10-0 lead following a 4-yard touchdown run by Miyan Williams in the 1st quarter. Since then, it’s nearly been all Penn State on both sides of the ball.

Back in 2016, the Nittany Lions scored 17 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to pull off the upset. A blocked field goal return by PSU’s Grant Haley ultimately was the difference-maker late, forcing the Buckeyes to play catch up.

Ohio State’s offense looked anemic for most of the 2nd quarter. The Nittany Lions forced back-to-back 3-and-out drives to give their offense a chance. In the closing minutes of the 1st half, C.J. Stroud would be sacked by PSU’s Johnny Dixon for a loss of 5 yards as time expired.

The Buckeyes totaled just 209 yards of offense in the 1st half. Ohio State struggled immensely on 3rd down, going 1-of-7 in the process.
