ESPN’s Heather Dinich remains sold on Ohio State as the best team in college football. According to Dinich, the win over Penn State only strengthens that claim by the Buckeyes.

Like most games in Happy Valley, this one was far from decided entering the fourth quarter. In fact, Penn State scored a touchdown to take the lead with less than 10 minutes remaining in the game.

However, the Buckeyes responded in a dominant fashion. Ohio State scored 4 touchdowns in the final 8:51 of the game to pull away for a 44-31 victory. The final score would have been even more lopsided if not for a late touchdown by the Nittany Lions.

After the game, Dinich said the win “bolstered Ohio State’s case for No. 1.” She also called it a “Huge win” for the Buckeyes to come out on top in a road contest.

Through Week 9, Ohio State has failed to crack the No. 1 spot in the polls and was locked into No. 2 on the AP Poll and Coaches Poll last weekend. With the first 2022 edition of the College Football Playoff Rankings due out Tuesday, it will be interesting to see if the Committee agrees with Dinich’s ranking of the Buckeyes.
