Graham Mertz weighed in on interim coach Jim Leonhard’s readiness to be Wisconsin’s full-time coach.

Mertz, the junior starting QB for the Badgers, made no bones about it. He wants Leonhard to be the next HC at Wisconsin.

During a presser on Monday, Mertz revealed he believes Leonhard is ready, saying “Yeah, he’s ready.”

That’s pretty telling for Leonhard, the young interim coach who took over head coaching duties on Oct. 2, after Paul Chryst was fired.

Wisconsin has gone 2-1 since Leonhard has taken over as interim coach after the firing of Paul Chryst. The confidence from Week 1 to now going into Week 10 is a drastic change that hopefully will provide the Badgers with an eventual opportunity to head to a bowl game.

The Badgers sit at 4-4 currently and could finish the season on a high note with potentially a bowl game and the opportunity to make its way atop the B1G West.

Perhaps Wisconsin will make a decision on the head coach role soon. We will stay updated as more information becomes available.

Wisconsin will take on Maryland at home at noon ET this Saturday.
