Jake Butt knows better than anyone how the player tunnel at Michigan Stadium can cause problems. He played TE at Michigan from 2013-2016.

Butt discussed the issues with the tunnel with R.J. Young on “The Number One College Football Show.”

“These moments happen, and is it a problem what happened with Penn State? Absolutely. Is it a problem what happened after Michigan State? Absolutely, those are problems. It’s also true that it’s not usually a problem to the point where you need to panic and make any emotional decision here. 99% of the time there’s nothing.”

The most recent fights that have taken place in the tunnel were against Penn State and Michigan State.

Now that lines have been crossed, Butt has emphasized the need for someone to be held accountable. Butt stated that jawing back-and-forth between teams is all in good fun as a player except when players start to cross lines and get into physical altercations.

“As a player, I can tell you it’s fun to have (barking back-and-forth in the tunnel) as long as there’s a very clear line drawn,” said Butt. “Now, lines have been crossed this year. Who’s at fault, we’re gonna defer to other people, I think accountability matters.”

Hopefully these fights in the tunnel will stop soon.
