Garrett Nelson had high praise for interim coach Mickey Joseph.

“He’s done probably the best job anybody could do in this situation,” said Nelson when asked how Joseph has handled the season.

Joseph took over as interim HC after the Huskers suffered a brutal defeat to Georgia Southern in Week 3. Since taking over, Joseph and the Huskers have a 2-3 record.

The Huskers suffered a blowout loss at the hands of Oklahoma but quickly rebounded after the bye week to defeat Indiana and Rutgers consecutively. Nebraska then lost a close game to a tough Purdue team and hung tight with 14th-ranked Illinois for a while before ultimately falling.

The Huskers have Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Iowa remaining on their schedule. At 3-5, the Huskers will need to win 3 of those 4 to become bowl-eligible.
