Joel Klatt harps on the ‘failed experiment’ of singular committee in charge of CFP Rankings

Joel Klatt expressed his disappointment in the College Football Playoff selection committee’s initial rankings that came out on Tuesday night.
The 1st rankings were No. 1 Tennessee, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Georgia, and No. 4 Clemson. The rankings included 2 SEC teams and 1 team from the B1G and ACC. As is the case with most rankings, not everyone was happy with the results.
You all know exactly how I feel…the single committee is a failed experiment…In a subjective exercise we need more variables to reduce the statistical variance of each input

Klatt, who is a Fox Sports color commentator, discussed the committee’s issues with selecting teams. In a Twitter post, he shared his frustrations with the selection process:
“You all know exactly how I feel…the single committee is a failed experiment,” Klatt said. “In a subjective exercise we need more variables to reduce the statistical variance of each input.”
Klatt was upset with TCU being ranked behind Clemson and Alabama at No. 7. He was critical of the committee’s views and encouraged them to watch film. Even with Tuesday’s rankings, the final results will change over the next month.
Some of the teams on the outside of the rankings still have a chance to make the Playoff in early December. There will be a debate between Clemson and Michigan as long as the 2 teams remain undefeated.
Look for changes to occur within the rankings until the conference championship games take place.
