Athan Kaliakmanis was tasked to step up and lead Minnesota to a win over Nebraska in the second half of the Week 10 game. He stepped into the void after Tanner Morgan was injured late in the first half and did not return.

Kaliakmanis led Minnesota to outscore Nebraska 20-3 after being down 10-0 at halftime in the comeback win for the Gophers.

After the game, Kaliakmanis talked about the lack of concern coming in for the second half:

“When I feel like I have a guy like Tanner Morgan able to teach me every day … and have an All-American running back (Mo Ibrahim) and center like John Michael (Schmitz), guys like that, what is there to freeze over?”

Kaliakmanis completed 6-of-12 of his passes for 137 yards and a QBR of 77.5. He was able to take a couple of deep shots against the Huskers to keep the chains moving in the second half.

Minnesota accounted for 300 total yards with 269 coming in the second half with Kaliakmanis in at quarterback.

Morgan completed 6-of-8 of his passes for 38 yards and a QBR of 13.2 before leaving with the injury.

Minnesota gets its sixth win of the year as the Gophers currently possess an overall record of 6-3. Minnesota will host Northwestern (1-8) in Week 11.
