Indiana has been struggling in the pocket this season and the quarterback conversation has become more of a heated debate. During Monday afternoon’s presser, Indiana’s coach Tom Allen discussed more of the quarterbacks’ issue for the Hoosiers.
In a series of unfortunate events in Saturday’s tough defeat against Penn State, 45-14, the Hoosiers and their quarterback situation did not look good, but Allen sees an encouraging response.
To start it off in Saturday’s game, Connor Bazelek Indiana’s starting quarterback was not dressed out and did not play Saturday.
Thus, Jack Tuttle was the starting quarterback before suffering an injury in the second quarter. Tuttle, who has earned the team captain title, left the game following a sack in the second quarter. He already announced that he will enter the transfer portal at the end of the season.
After Tuttle was out of the game then came in Brendan Sorsby. Sorsby threw one interception and then Dexter Williams II was out on the field taking Sorsby’s place. Williams threw 2 picks.
Allen weighed in on the young quarterbacks Sorsby and Williams:
Tom Allen asked if either young QB Saturday opened his eyes. Says he "saw enough from Dexter that I was very encouraged by the way he responded" Saturday. Says he ran the football well. Opens the door to Williams getting more snaps even as Bazelak gets healthy. #iufb

But on the bright side, Bazelek will be able to play in this week’s matchup against Ohio State after getting cleared from his injury issue.
Tom Allen: Jack Tuttle still being evaluated for shoulder injury. Connor Bazelak is back from his injury and will start at Ohio State. #iufb
