Jim Harbaugh spoke about how Donovan Edwards’ versatility is critical to Michigan’s success. He also mentioned that Edwards is only going to continue to get better as he grows as a player.
Harbaugh stated that Edwards is a unique player and that his skill set adds to an already talented backfield.
“Donovan is still growing and still refining his game. I don’t know how much his game will go to but it’s already at a really high level right now. I mean, guys with his skill set, there’s not many on the planet like it. And he’s a great leader. He’s a great energy for our team. It’s tremendous to have both Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards in the same backfield. So, yeah, we’re lucky. Lucky lucky.”
As a sophomore, Edwards has already recorded 458 yards for 4 touchdowns and averaged 6.8 yards per carry on the 2022 season. He’s also proven to be a weapon in the passing attack for the offense.
Harbaugh pointed out how having someone like Edwards adds a plethora of options and that they’re able to use him in any phase of the offense.
“Same thing we’ve all seen. Really good. Tremendous play maker, and every option is open when Donovan is in the game. Whether handing the ball off to him, he’s a very good blocker, runs really good routes, catches the ball really well, really good after the catch.”
Harbaugh’s Wolverine rushing offense is currently top 4 in the nation and with running backs like Edwards, it’s not hard to see why.
