Kirk Ferentz gives high marks for Iowa’s win vs. Purdue

Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes got back-to-back conference wins as Iowa took down Purdue on Saturday.
In the 24-3 trouncing of the Boilermakers, Iowa totaled 249 yards by halftime and finished the day with 376. The 20+ mph wind gusts in Ross-Ade Stadium didn’t affect QB Spencer Petras, who threw for 192 yards and 2 touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, things were also clicking for the Iowa defense, who held Purdue to just 255 total yards. The Hawkeyes shut out the Boilermakers in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th quarters, allowing only a single FG in the 2nd. Three different Iowa defensive players managed to sack Purdue QB Aidan O’Connell, who also threw 2 interceptions.
On Tuesday, Ferentz called the win a “really good team effort”, and pointed to the completeness of the Hawkeyes on both sides of the ball. It was clearly the best and most complete effort Iowa has had this season, per Ferentz.

Iowa will take on Wisconsin in a head-to-head matchup this Saturday that includes the Heartland Trophy up for grabs. We’ll see if Iowa can keep the complete performances rolling in Week 11.
