Nebraska is not setting the world on fire this season with a 3-6 overall record. Those 3 wins have come against North Dakota, Indiana and Rutgers while also losing to 1-8 Northwestern.

However, beating Nebraska in 2022 has come at a price for the opponents of the Huskers. In fact, a win over Nebraska is now accompanied by what has been dubbed the “Husker Hex” by Brett McMurphy and others on social media.

The teams to beat Nebraska this season have an overall record of 18-6 at the time of facing the Huskers. However, those 6 teams are 5-19 overall since beating Nebraska with Georgia Southern accounting for 3 of those 5 wins.

Minnesota — comeback winners over Nebraska in Week 10 — will play its first game in the “hex era” against Northwestern in Week 11.

Other teams in the hex to face off this weekend will be Purdue and Illinois. The Illini were upset at home by unranked Michigan State in their lone attempt at breaking the hex. The Boilermakers and Illini are a combined 0-3 since beating the Huskers, but something will have to give this weekend.

We’ll see how the hex continues to play out in November with a particular eye on Michigan, Nebraska’s opponent in Week 11. Should the Wolverines win, they’ll put the hex to the test with games against Illinois and Ohio State to finish the season.
