Kirk Ferentz fights back emotions when discussing Iowa’s 3-game turnaround

Kirk Ferentz has led Iowa to a 3-game win streak, something that causes the head coach to become emotional.

In keeping with the recent tradition of a winning streak in November, the Hawkeyes defeated Wisconsin 24-10 on Saturday. It’s the third win for Iowa in as many weeks, as the Hawkeyes also took home wins against Northwestern and Purdue. With Saturday’s win, Iowa has won 13 straight games played in the month of November dating back to 2019.

The winning steak started a new chapter for the Hawkeyes after a tumultuous beginning to the season and losses to powerhouses Michigan and Ohio State. The wins also put Iowa back in the hunt for the B1G West title.

Speaking to the press on Saturday, Ferentz teared up when discussing the comeback of the Hawkeyes and how they rose to the challenge.

“I think the answer right there, there’s a visitor in town who really knows football, knows me, and he knows our program,” said Ferentz. “He was just talking about our guys, the way he likes our team.

“That’s what I go back to. It’s been pretty consistent since January. These guys have worked hard… We got enough guys at the top that are really strong. You bet on people you’ve been around, see how they respond.”

Iowa will attempt to continue its November win streak as the Hawkeyes take on Minnesota on Saturday.
