Jack Sanborn is not supposed to be here.
He’s not the most athletic player in the world, nor is he the biggest. That’s what NFL GMs said when they passed on him this past NFL Draft.
The undrafted rookie out of Wisconsin has found a spot on the Bears’ defense after the trade of Roquan Smith and is performing well. He recorded the 2nd sack of his career and 2nd sack of the day Sunday against the Lions.

Through the end of the 3rd quarter, Sanborn leads the Bears in total tackles (9), tackles for loss (2) and sacks (2). Chicago leads 24-10, looking for its 4th win of the season.
Sanborn is in familiar territory, too. He was born in Lake Zurich, just about 10 miles northwest of Soldier Field.
