An intriguing third week of the college football season had Kirk Herbstreit reshuffling his top four rankings on Sunday morning.
Yes, three of the four teams from Week 2 are still in Herbstreit’s top four, but there’s been some significant changes. Clemson, Oklahoma and Alabama still occupy three of those spots, but the ESPN analyst dropped USC after an overtime win over Texas. The Trojans were replaced by Penn State.

Penn State is 3-0 and has powered through its non-conference schedule, winning games by a combined score of 141-14. After Ohio State’s loss to Oklahoma, the Nittany Lions look like the best team in the B1G.
That wasn’t the only change in the top four.
Herbstreit moved Clemson up to the No. 1 spot after beating Auburn and Louisville in consecutive weeks. Alabama, the previous No. 1, was dropped to No. 3 while Oklahoma clung to the second spot.
Clemson, Oklahoma and Clemson have all posted a win over a ranked opponent while Penn State’s biggest victory was against rival Pitt.
