Travis Vokolek reveals how Mickey Joseph is motivating the Cornhuskers for matchup with Wisconsin

Travis Vokolek described on Tuesday how head coach Mickey Joseph had a startling reminder and motivation factor for the Cornhuskers at practice this week.
The Nebraska TE told press members that Joseph had written “2012” on the practice board. 2012 is the last year that Nebraska beat Wisconsin, who the Cornhuskers will face this Saturday. That’s a string of 8 straight defeats at the hands of the Badgers.

It’s Joseph’s first action against the Badgers since taking over as head coach. Joseph was the associate head coach and wide receivers coach at LSU from 2017 to 2021, before returning to his alma mater to serve as wide receivers coach, associate head coach, and passing game coordinator.
When Nebraska head coach Scott Frost was fired in September, Joseph stepped up to the plate. Now, Joseph is trying to make his case to land the full-time head coaching job.
The Cornhuskers and Badgers will face off on Saturday for just the 15th time since 1901. So far in the series, the Badgers have been dominant, taking home the win 11 times, compared with Nebraska’s four. Prior to the 30-27 Nebraska win in 2012, the last time the Cornhuskers walked away victorious was in 1973, when they won out 20-16 over the Badgers.
Wisconsin and Nebraska will kick off at noon ET on Saturday.
