Mohamed Ibrahim nets national award for performance in Minnesota’s Week 11 win

Mohamed Ibrahim of the Minnesota Golden Gophers received a national honor this past week when he was named the Doak Walker National Player of the Week.
In the 31-3 victory for the Gophers over Northwestern, Ibrahim rushed for 178 yards and 3 touchdowns. Ibrahim has over 1,200 yards on the season and 18 touchdowns.
Ibrahim has rushed for 100 or more yards in 18 games in a row, which according to ESPN is the longest streak any running back has had since 2000.

He also leads the nation in rushing touchdowns and he along with Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud are strong contenders for this year’s Heisman Trophy.
The last B1G player to win the trophy was Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith back in 2006 and the last running back to win the award was Alabama’s Derrick Henry back in 2015.
We will see if Ibrahim can finish the season on an equally strong run. He has a shot to finish the season with 100+ rushing yards in every game played.
