UC Board of Regents sets date to finalize decision on UCLA’s B1G future

UCLA is still expected to leave the Pac-12 for the B1G in 2024, along with fellow west coast program USC. Could that change in the coming weeks?
According to The Athletic’s Stewart Mandel, the University California Board of Regents will conduct a meeting to finalize a decision on UCLA’s departure from the Pac-12 to the B1G on Dec. 14. It is still expected that the Bruins will follow the other California-based school to the new conference, though plans could change from now until the vote.
And the very first line: "There will be a special meeting on Dec. 14 to finalize the decision on UCLA's Big Ten membership."

Since July, conversations have fluttered around the program leaving the Pac-12 in favor of B1G country. One of the major factors that could halt all conversations in their tracks is money. According to The New York Times, UCLA has amassed a $103 million deficit and is in desperate need of extra funding.
The B1G’s new media rights deal could benefit the Bruins long-term when it comes to financial compensation. Currently, it is expected that schools will make $70 million a year on media rights alone.
