College basketball rankings: B1G has 4 new teams ranked in latest AP Top 25 poll

College basketball rankings have been updated following the first few games of the season.

The latest AP Poll shows the B1G having more teams coming into the fold as some of the top competitors in college basketball. Indiana (4-0) rises one spot from No. 12 to No. 11 and Illinois (4-1) rises from No. 19 to No. 16 in the new poll.

No. 12 Michigan State (3-1), No. 23 Maryland (5-0), No. 24 Purdue (3-0), and No. 25 Iowa (3-0) all enter the AP Poll after being unranked in the previous week.

Indiana is the highest-ranked team from the B1G as they recently defeated Miami (Ohio) 86-56 on Sunday, November 20.

Michigan State had a big home 73-71 win over Villanova on Nov. 18. On that same day, Illinois defeated No. 8 UCLA 79-70 but lost to No. 16 Virginia 70-61 two days later.

Maryland is off to an impressive start to the season as they are coming off a 88-70 home win over Miami (FL).

Purdue most recently had a home 75-70 win over Marquette on Nov. 15. They will play at home against West Virginia on Nov. 24. Iowa is coming off a decisive 83-67 road win at Seton Hall on Nov. 16.

Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State are receiving votes, but were not ranked. Here’s the rest of the rankings:
