Kevin Warren highlighted how the B1G expects its coaches and student-athletes to represent the conference. He also stated that the conference is taking disciplinary action against both schools.

“The Big Ten Conference has a standard of excellence both academically and athletically that has been built over 127 years. Our standards require that our student-athletes, coaches and staff members represent the conference, and their member institutions, with the highest level of decorum and sportsmanship. We are taking disciplinary action and will continue to work with our member institutions to strengthen their gameday procedures and ensure our honored traditions.”

Here’s the punishments for both schools:

Michigan

  • Public Reprimand
  • B1G requires Michigan to provide adequate protection for personnel of both home and away teams in Michigan Stadium

Michigan State

  • $100,000 fine
  • 8 game suspension in 2023 for DB Khary Crump
  • No further punishment for Jacoby Windmon, Itayvion Brown, Angelo Grose, Justin White, Brandon Wright, or Zion Young
