Cade McNamara announced his intention to enter the transfer portal after the conclusion of Michigan’s regular season. On Thursday night, McNamara took to Twitter to announce his commitment to Iowa, staying in the B1G.

McNamara led the Wolverines to an 11-1 regular season record in 2021, including a win over the Ohio State Buckeyes. The 2021 Wolverines would win the B1G Championship and earn a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Entering the 2022 season, McNamara was locked into a tight battle for the QB position with J.J. McCarthy. McNamara suffered a season-ending injury during the 3rd game of the season, effectively ending his Michigan career.

With McCarthy leading the Wolverines to an undefeated regular season in 2022, it became clear that the job would be his for the foreseeable future. McNamara seems set to be the starting QB for the Hawkeyes after the transfer of Alex Padilla and the graduation of Spencer Petras.
