The B1G had no shortage of talented youngsters in the 2022 season. Five of those players are being honored by PFF with a notable presence on the defensive side of the ball.
PFF recently unveiled its All-Freshman team for the 2022 campaign. While Michigan’s defense featured some veteran faces, a pair of freshmen for the Wolverines were recognized by the publication.
PFF also featured defenders from Penn State and Illinois on the unit while a specialist out of Indiana made the cut.
Here are the B1G freshmen recognized:
- DL Mason Graham, Michigan
- Edge Gabe Jacas, Illinois
- LB Abdul Carter, Penn State
- CB Will Johnson, Michigan
- KR Jaylin Lucas, Indiana
Each of those players certainly had an impact on their respective programs. The Wolverines went 12-0 with an impressive defense, Penn State won 10 games for the first time since 2019 and Illinois went 8-4 during Bret Bielema’s second season in Champaign. While Indiana struggled, Lucas returned a pair of kicks for touchdowns on the season.
