Fans, media react to OSU’s CFP chances following USC’s loss to Utah

Social media took notice of Ohio State’s increased College Football Playoff chances following No. 4 USC’s loss to Utah in the Pac-12 Championship Game.

Utah pulled off the 47-24 upset and virtually ended USC’s Playoff bid. USC entered the game with a 11-1 record and just needed to win the game to reach the Playoff. Since the Trojans dropped the game, it gave No. 5 Ohio State an opportunity to jump into the top 4 ahead of the final rankings on Sunday.

Salt Lake City was not the only place celebrating Utah’s Pac-12 Championship Game. Columbus, Ohio rejoiced when the door that opened to the Playoff. In Week 13, Ohio State temporarily dropped out of the Playoff race following a 45-23 loss to Michigan. Social media was buzzing with the positive news for the Buckeyes.

In the latest Playoff rankings, Ohio State fell out of the top 4 and needed help from teams inside the top 4 to make the Playoff. Ohio State is set to compete in the Playoff for the 5th time.

Just when it seemed liked Ohio State was on the outside looking in, the Buckeyes will likely be competing for national championship. Ohio State will find out its final Playoff standings on Sunday.
