Nick Saban recently joined the ESPN Twitter CFB Show to discuss the College Football Playoff and plead his case for the Alabama Crimson Tide to be included.

Saban mentioned Bryce Young’s injury against Arkansas, and how the QB was not fully healthy against Tennessee. Saban then mentioned that his team finished the season 3-0. According to Saban, the committee should ask, “How are they playing at present?” regarding potential Playoff teams.

Saban then gave an additional criterion he believes the committee should consider. “Would they be underdogs (if they played a team now) ?” asked Saban, implying that Alabama would be favored over other teams in the Playoff.

With losses by USC and TCU, Alabama’s chances theoretically are still alive. While Ohio State is favored to get in in place of USC, it remains to be seen if Alabama will leapfrog TCU.

Alabama could miss the CFP for just the 2nd time in its history.
