JJ McCarthy is putting in work during the B1G Championship Game.

Halfway through the 2nd quarter, with the Michigan Wolverines trailing by 3, McCarthy led the team on a drive. Facing heavy pressure, McCarthy rolled out of the pocket and found Luke Schoonmaker in the endzone for a 7-yard score. The score put the Wolverines up 14-10 late in the 2nd quarter.

The passing TD was McCarthy’s 2nd of the day. The 1st TD pass went to another TE, Colston Loveland. Loveland later exited the game with an injury, potentially paving the way for more opportunities for Schoonmaker.

The Michigan offense has looked sluggish against Purdue without star RB Blake Corum. Donovan Edwards has struggled to get anything going on the ground, garnering just 37 yards to this point. McCarthy has been almost perfect, however, currently 6-of-9 for 86 yards and 2 TDs.
