The shooting occurred during a country music festival on Sunday night. A shooter fired hundreds of bullets from a hotel on the Las Vegas strip into a crowd of nearly 22,000 people in attendance. More than 50 people were killed and at least 400 more were injured. It is recorded as the deadliest shooting in modern United States history.

Martell attended Bishop Gorman, a private school in Las Vegas.
