Greg Gard, Connor Essegian explain impact of Carter Gilmore on Wisconsin hoops
Greg Gard and Connor Essegian understand how important Carter Gilmore is to Wisconsin basketball. Both discussed this at the post game presser following the win over Maryland.
Gilmore might not score the ball much, but his defensive effort is what sets him apart from the rest. Gard never really finds Gilmore making too many mistakes on defense.
“The thing with Carter, I don’t find him making many mistakes on the defensive end,” said Gard. “He helps cover up for mistakes. He understands who he is now. He trends to what he’s capable of.”

Essegian echoed what Gard said and also admires Gilmore’s work ethic day in and day out.
“Every day he shows up and he’s one of the hardest-working kids on the floor,” said Essegian. “It’s just a continuation of what he’s been doing.”
