Trev Alberts, a former Nebraska and NFL player and current athletic director at University of Nebraska at Omaha, will not be considered for the opening position as director of athletics at Nebraska-Lincoln, according to reports.
On Wednesday, the Omaha World-Herald reported that Alberts sent an email to several staff members saying he will not pursue the position “after prayerful consideration.” He was considered to be one of the top candidates for the position.
Alberts, who played at Nebraska from 1990-1993, has been the athletic director at Nebraska-Omaha for the last eight years and has helped the university transition its athletic teams into the Division I level.
Per the World-Herald, Alberts said he has “unfinished business at UNO, and I remain committed to working as hard as possible to realizing those goals,” in an email.
