Devin Mockobee has set a school record for the Purdue Boilermakers as the highest single-season freshman rusher. On 182 attempts, Mockobee recorded 920 yards rushing with 5.38 yards per carry this season.
Because of his incredible performance, Mockobee has been awarded as an honorable mention Freshman All-American. In 12 games with the Boilermakers, he scored 9 touchdowns with his best performance being against Nebraska where he ran for 178 yards with a outstanding 5.9 yards per attempt.
No Purdue freshman has rushed for 900 yards in a season. Until now…

The former walk-on announced on social media that he will stay despite the coaching changes. With coach Jeff Brohm leaving for Louisville, players have started to question of if they should stay or follow their former coach they played for.
Mockobee has been targeted by other fan bases to join their team with Louisville fans asking him directly to transfer. It’s not hard to see why with Mockobee’s unique running style.
Currently, no Boilermaker has announced they’re transferring despite the coaching situation being in flux. This is a good sign for the team’s future and the program overall.
