C.J. Stroud knows about the significance of wearing the No. 7 jersey for Ohio State. It belonged to former Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins.
Haskins passed away after getting fatally struck by a car on the side of the road in Florida back in April. Stroud is keeping Haskins’ memory alive by wearing the former Buckeyes’ number on game days.
Stroud noted that wearing the jersey means everything to him.
“It’s really meant everything to me. I know Dwayne was a great person, not only a football player but did great things in this community and for the people that he loved. It felt good to be able to wear his jersey in the spring game and try to live his legacy on. I’ve tried to honor him this year as much as I could because that’s something I try to take serious is trying to hold up the people who passed away the past few years.”
