Ja’Quan Sheppard has announced his next destination where he continues playing college football. Sheppard announced on his Twitter page that he will transfer from Cincinnati to the University of Maryland where he will play for the Terrapins.

Sheppard had a breakout season this 2022 season as a first-year starting cornerback. Last season, he was a backup to star cornerbacks Ahmad Gardner and Coby Bryant.
Through 12 games this season, Sheppard accounted for 50 total tackles, 33 solo tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, and 10 pass breakups (second in the AAC). He was named a 2022 first-team All-Conference selection for his consistent play this season. In 4 seasons at Cincinnati, Sheppard accounted for 65 total tackles, 45 solo tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 10 pass breakups.
Maryland has finished the 2022 regular season with an overall record of 7-5 (4-5 in B1G play) in a tough division. The Terrapins are ranked 48th in the nation in points allowed per game (24.1) and 60th in passing yards allowed per game (219.5).
