The college basketball rankings are getting updated with a new AP Top 25 released Monday as we embark on another week of college basketball. At the top, Purdue climbs into the No. 1 spot with a 10-0 record.

The rest of the top five was rounded out by Virginia, UConn, Alabama and Houston. Previous No. 1 Houston dropped to 5 after a loss to Alabama while previous No. 2 Texas dropped to No. 7 after a loss to Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

The unfortunate story of the college basketball world to begin the week is the arrest of Texas head coach Chris Beard on alleged charges of assault against a family member. As of now, it is highly unlikely that Beard will coach in Texas’ Monday night game, and his status moving forward will be something to monitor.

Here’s how the full AP Poll looks entering the week of Dec. 5:

#1 Purdue

#4 Alabama
