Charlie Jones has joined a growing list of Purdue players who announced Thursday that they will be sitting out of the Boilers’ Citrus Bowl matchup against LSU. Aidan O’Connell and Payne Durham announced the news earlier in the day.

Thursday has certainly been a rough day for Purdue’s chances against the Tigers. Jones is an especially tough pill to swallow alongside O’Connell, and led the country in receptions and receiving yards this season with 110 and 1,361, respectively.

The Citrus Bowl is set for Jan. 2, 2023.

Purdue had a strong season this year, finishing atop the B1G West before falling to Michigan in the B1G Championship game. It should be stated the Boilers had some important opt-outs before the Music City Bowl last year and still managed to defeat a strong Tennessee team in exciting fashion.

There’s still a game to be played.
