Ryan Walters believes Purdue’s program is special.
Walters was hired as head coach of the Boilermakers earlier this week and he detailed what makes Purdue standout on Friday.
“Purdue is a world-class institution,” Walters said. “And from an academic standpoint, this is the best conference in college football. You can achieve everything that you want to, on the field and off the field, right here at Purdue.”
Walters believes that Purdue sets itself apart from the rest of the league in the way that it sets its players up for success off the field as well as on it.
Walters took over for Jeff Brohm, who left Purdue for his alma mater in Louisville. Walters previously coached at Illinois, where he was defensive coordinator.
He helped lead the Fighting Illini to one of the best defenses in the country. The Fighting Illini led the nation in points allowed per game (12.3) under Walters.
