Illinois football reportedly hired a new DC on Friday, and Purdue has done the same. The Boilermakers are reportedly bringing on an Illinois assistant.

Kevin Kane is set to become the next defensive coordinator at Purdue. Kane was the assistant head coach and also dealt with the outside linebackers in Champaign.

Kane’s list of stops is a long one. Kane has spent time with Kansas, Wisconsin, Northern Illinois, and SMU before eventually landing at Illinois last season. Kane was a grad assistant and quality control coach on Bret Bielema’s staff at Wisconsin from 2008-2010.

Gabe Jacas and Seth Coleman were two of Kane’s top linebackers that were coached while at Illinois. Jacas and Coleman combined for the most quarterback hits in the country and both took home an All-B1G honorable mention in 2022.

Jacas compiled 32 total tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks this season. Coleman recorded 42 total tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks under Kane.
