Kaevon Merriweather is officially heading to the 2023 NFL Draft. The Iowa DB announced the news from his Twitter account on Saturday.
Merriweather played in all 12 games for the Hawkeyes this season and recorded 47 total tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, and 1 fumble recovery. Merriweather made sure to thank the coaching staff and all who helped him along the way.
“Dear Hawkeye Nation: It is with a bowed head and humble heart that I come to inform you that after careful consideration and thoughtful conversations with my family, I have decided to forego playing playing in the 2023 NFL Draft. To the coaching staff: thank you for taking a chance on a basketball player who was always a football player at heart. I appreciate you elevating my football IQ and developing me both mentally and athletically.”
